Nigeria Names 12-Player Squad for 2026 CAVB African Women’s Senior Volleyball Championship

Nigeria's roster for the 2026 CAVB Women’s African Nations Volleyball Championship in Kenya.

Nigeria has named the 12 players who will represent the country at the 2026 CAVB African Women’s Senior Volleyball Championship, scheduled to take place from August 23 to September 5.

The squad brings together experienced national team players and emerging talents across the five main playing positions, with Ijeoma Ukpabi named captain.

Ukpabi will lead the outside hitters alongside Maryam Ibrahim, Deborah Chukwu and Mmesoma Okekearu.

The middle-blocking department features Deborah Sunday, Ganiyat Lateef and Aisha Bello, while Kelechi Ndukauba and Christiana Paul will provide the options at opposite hitter.

Aisha Umaru and Enewa Odoh make up the setter department, with Jummai Bitrus named as the team's libero.

Coach Elishama Elam will lead the team as head coach, with Olusegun Abinde serving as assistant coach and Sunday Akapson working with the setters.

Nigeria will now turn its attention to Kenya as the team prepares for the continental championship. The tournament will provide the squad with an opportunity to test itself against some of Africa's strongest women's volleyball teams and compete for a place among the continent's best.

With the competition beginning on August 23, Nigeria's 12-player squad has been saddled with the responsibility to translate its preparation into results when the tournament gets underway.
